Senior Partner, Head of Ventures
Ibrahim Ajami is the Head of Ventures at Mubadala Capital, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this capacity, Ibrahim oversees Mubadala Capital’s global ventures strategy, with a focus on investments in technology and healthcare.
Since joining Mubadala in 2006, Ibrahim has played a critical role in shaping the firm’s innovation and growth agenda. He launched the Mubadala Capital ventures platform in San Francisco in 2016, leading a cross disciplinary team that has invested in over 100 companies, and forging strategic partnerships with global technology investors. Prior to launching the ventures platform, Ibrahim built and led Mubadala’s strategy in semiconductors and advanced technology. He was a founding member of GlobalFoundries, a leading global semiconductor manufacturing company.
Ibrahim began his career working for various companies in Silicon Valley and for Occidental Petroleum in Abu Dhabi. He brings over two decades of experience in technology investment and strategic development, with particular expertise in global venture ecosystems.
Ibrahim holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Fatima joined Mubadala in 2011 and is the Co-Head of Mubadala Capital Solutions, where she oversees the permanent capital strategy, Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, and separately managed accounts. She has over thirteen years of experience in funds and direct private equity investments. Fatima also serves on the boards of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and K-MAC Enterprises.
Fatima graduated magna cum laude from the Higher Colleges of Technology with a B.S. in Business Administration. She is also a CFA and CAIA charterholder.

Sergio Carneiro is a Partner on the Brazil investment team at Mubadala Capital, based in Rio de Janeiro. In this capacity, Sergio co-heads the firm’s special opportunities investment activities in Brazil, overseeing deal origination, execution, portfolio management, and strategic direction across the platform.
Since joining Mubadala Capital in 2019, Sergio has played a critical role in establishing and expanding the firm’s investment footprint in Brazil. He has led several landmark transactions, including the acquisition and successful restructuring of Atvos, Brazil’s second-largest sugar and ethanol producer and a leading player in the biofuels sector - emerging from one of the country’s largest-ever judicial recovery proceedings. He also led Mubadala’s investment in Flowa/Base Exchange, a technology-driven financial services platform developing a new stock exchange in Brazil.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital, Sergio worked at The Carlyle Group and GP Investments, where he focused on private equity investments across South America. He began his career at McKinsey & Company, advising clients across a range of industries. He brings over 15 years of experience in private equity, with particular expertise in complex transactions, operational turnarounds, and distressed investing.
Sergio holds an MBA with Honors from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from UFRJ.

Senior Partner, Co-Head of Solutions
Maxime joined Mubadala in 2008 and was a founding member of Mubadala Capital in 2011, where he currently is a Senior Partner and Co-Head of Mubadala Capital Solutions, as well as a member of the Mubadala Capital Investment Committee.
Since the founding of Mubadala Capital, Maxime has held a number of senior positions across the firm, most recently acting as the Head of Public Investments, where he was overseeing Mubadala Capital’s public market initiatives. Prior experiences at Mubadala Capital includes having worked on a number of private market transactions.
Prior to joining Mubadala in 2008, Maxime worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group of Dresdner Kleinwort and R.W. Baird in London.
Maxime graduated with First Class Honors from Queen Mary College, University of London.

Antoun Ghanem is a Partner on the Private Equity team at Mubadala Capital, based in London. He leads the firm’s European Private Equity program, overseeing investment strategy, deal origination, execution, and portfolio value creation across the region. He also serves as Head of the London Office.
Since joining Mubadala Capital, Antoun has played a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s European presence and driving performance across the platform. He has led several notable investments, including Looping Group, Witherslack, Forfar, RelyOn, Bugaboo, and Babel, and is one of the key architects behind Mubadala Capital's landmark investment in Fortress Investment Group.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital, Antoun served as Senior Vice President in Mubadala’s Services Ventures unit, where he led investments alongside international partners into joint ventures across the financial services, logistics, transportation, and defense services sectors. He began his career as a strategy consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton from 2005 to 2007, advising clients on growth and operational strategy.
Antoun brings over 20 years of experience in private equity and strategic investing, with deep expertise in complex transactions, cross-border execution, operational transformation, and platform scaling.
He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Honors in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.

Head of Healthcare
Alaa Halawa is the Head of Healthcare at Mubadala Capital, based in San Francisco, United States. In this capacity, Alaa oversees Mubadala Capital Healthcare investment strategy across Ventures, Growth and Private Equity in life sciences, healthcare technology, and healthcare services.
Since joining Mubadala in 2009, Alaa has played a critical role in expanding the firm’s presence in both semiconductors and life sciences. He was part of the early team that helped build GlobalFoundries, one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers, and later played a key role in its transformation into a publicly traded company valued at $30 billion. In 2016, Alaa began laying the foundation for Mubadala Capital’s healthcare investment platform.
Alaa has led investments in a number of pioneering companies, including Recursion (RXRX), Neumora Therapeutics (NMRA), Exscientia (EXAI), Vir Biotechnology (VIR), Altos Labs, Insitro, Innovaccer, Orca Bio, Unlearn, Paradigm, Alloy Therapeutics, Pretzel Therapeutics, Juvena Therapeutics, and EpiBiologics. He serves on the boards of several companies, including Neumora Therapeutics, Innovaccer, Pretzel Therapeutics, and Alloy Therapeutics.
Alaa holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University.

Co-Head of Private Equity, Head of Strategic Partnerships & Acquisitions
Kevin Kokko is the Head of Strategic Partnerships & Acquisitions at Mubadala Capital, Head of the New York Office, Co-Head of the Private Equity business and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Since joining Mubadala in 2008, Kevin has played a central role in shaping the firm’s growth, initially establishing the Private Equity business out of Abu Dhabi before taking on the leadership of Business Development & Investor Relations out of New York in 2019 and most recently building the Strategic Partnerships & Acquisitions function. In his current role, Kevin oversees Mubadala Capital’s efforts to identify, structure, and execute transformative partnerships and acquisitions across its global investment platform.
Before joining Mubadala, Kevin started his career in investment banking at Citigroup in Toronto and London and spent several years working with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, first at the Africa Governance Initiative, a non-profit focused on public sector capacity building, and later as Director of Advisory and Principal Strategies at Tony Blair Associates.
Kevin holds an Honours Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Anthony Paniccia joined Mubadala Capital in 2015 and is currently a Partner and Head of Finance and Operations. Based in New York, Anthony has broad oversight of the finance, operations and administration of the organization’s third-party capital activities.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital, he was a Vice President at Northleaf Capital Partners from 2006 to 2014 where he managed a portfolio of private equity and venture capital investments. Anthony has significant industry experience having begun his career in investment management in 2001 with various divisions of TD Bank Financial Group.
Anthony graduated from York University in Canada with a BA and holds an MBA from Rotman School of Management – University of Toronto where he graduated as a Bregman Scholar. He also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Leonardo Yamamoto is a Partner at Mubadala Capital, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is responsible for sourcing, executing, and managing investments across multiple sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and consumer goods.
Since joining Mubadala Capital in 2017, Leonardo has played a central role in expanding the firm’s presence in Brazil. His track record includes over ten transactions, including the privatization and development of Acelen, operator of the Mataripe Refinery in Bahia, and the creation of Acelen Renewables, an integrated biorefinery project focused on producing sustainable aviation fuel from a native Brazilian plant.
Prior to Mubadala Capital, Leonardo held senior roles in private equity and consulting at H.I.G. Capital, Actis, GP Investments, and the Boston Consulting Group.
He holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from UNICAMP.

Gogem Artug leads Information Technology for Mubadala Capital, the wholly-owned asset management arm of Mubadala Investment Company. Based in Abu Dhabi, she oversees all aspects of Digital, Technology Services & Operations.
Gogem has over 20 years of diverse, hands-on experience in software design, development, implementation, IT operations, project/program management and IT Strategy & leadership. She possesses deep expertise in applying technological solutions to complex business problems with domain knowledge in several markets, including high volume financial systems, financial analytics, and advanced manufacturing.
Previously, Gogem held positions as Co-Founder, CTO and Director. Prior to Mubadala Capital, she served 10 years in Mubadala Investment Company as Director of Service Transition & Operations for Enterprise Technology & Services department.
Gogem has a BS from Boston University and is an Executive Leadership Alumni of Harvard Business School.

Lindsay Fainé is the Head of Taxation at Mubadala Capital, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In this capacity, Lindsay oversees all aspects of the firm’s global tax strategy, structuring, and compliance across its various businesses.
Since joining Mubadala Capital in 2018, Lindsay has played a critical role in shaping the firm’s tax infrastructure to support its growth and evolving investment strategies. She has led the implementation of efficient cross-border structures, enhanced global tax governance frameworks, and advised on numerous complex transactions across multiple jurisdictions.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital, Lindsay was a a partner at an international law firm, where she specialized in advising private equity sponsors, institutional investors, and multinational corporations on a wide range of domestic and international tax matters. She brings 20 years of experience in private equity, international tax, and fund structuring, with particular expertise in cross-border investment planning, tax-efficient fund formation, and navigating evolving global tax regulations.
Lindsay holds an undergraduate degree from Drake University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law.

Head of Sustainability
Katie Green is Head of Sustainability at Mubadala Capital, based in London. In this role, Katie is responsible for leading the firm's sustainability strategy and program.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital in 2025, Katie was with Oaktree Capital, where she led sustainability for the firm in Europe. Prior to this she spent over a decade at Schroders in a range of sustainability, investment and client roles.
She brings over 13 years of experience in sustainability and asset management, across public and private markets investments, with particular expertise in building and executing sustainability strategy. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She also holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School and is a CFA charterholder.

Director, Business Development & Investor Relations
Mohammed Hussain is a Director based in Abu Dhabi, where he leads Mubadala Capital’s Business Development team in the MENA region.
Mohammed joined Mubadala Capital in 2012 as an M&A lawyer and focused his career on cross-border mergers and acquisitions including private equity, venture capital, emerging markets investments and funds. Mohammed moved to the Business Development team in 2023 and has led fundraising efforts in the MENA region, in addition to leading Mubadala Capital’s private wealth distribution.
Previously, Mohammed spent two years as an associate at Shearman & Sterling’s mergers and acquisitions practice in New York.
Mohammed holds an LLM from Duke University School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the State of New York.

Head of Communications
Natalia Moreno is the Global Head of Communications at Mubadala Capital, where she leads the firm’s global marketing, communications, and brand strategy across its investment platforms and geographies. She joined Mubadala Capital in 2020 to build the communications function for its Ventures business in San Francisco, later expanding her remit to shape and scale the firm’s global narrative.
Prior to Mubadala Capital, Natalia advised a range of VCs, technology companies, startups, global media brands, and philanthropic institutions while at a boutique strategic communications firm in Silicon Valley. She previously led cross-functional corporate initiatives at Univision, focused on organizational transformation and strategic alignment. Natalia began her career at Brunswick Group in Washington, D.C., supporting Fortune 500 clients on public affairs, crisis communications, and investor relations.
Natalia holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.

Ali Safavi is the Head of Ethics & Compliance at Mubadala Capital, based in New York. In this role, Ali leads the firm’s global regulatory compliance program, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Since joining Mubadala Capital in 2019, Ali has been instrumental in building and scaling the firm’s compliance infrastructure. He has overseen the development of key policies and procedures and manages the firm’s regulatory registrations across multiple jurisdictions, including the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital, Ali served as Assistant General Counsel at Kingdon Capital, where he also managed the firm’s compliance program. He brings over 15 years of experience in securities and regulatory compliance, with particular expertise in the U.S. Investment Advisers Act.
Ali holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science, and International Affairs from The George Washington University, and earned his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey.

Ophir Shmuel is a Head of Business Development & Investor Relations at Mubadala Capital, based in London. In this role, Ophir leads efforts to expand and deepen the firm's relationships with investors globally, playing a key role in driving strategic growth and capital formation across the platform.
Prior to joining Mubadala Capital in 2025, Ophir spent nearly two decades in capital formation roles, most recently with Eaton Partners, where he led their EMEA group, raising capital for a diverse range of global private markets funds. Ophir started his career in Investment Banking with roles at Goldman Sachs and ABN AMRO.
He brings over 25 years of financial services experience and holds a BA (Hons) in Law and Marketing from Oxford Brookes University, graduating in 2000.

Head of Capital Markets
Kelly Thomson is an Executive Director and Head of Capital Markets for Mubadala Capital. Based in New York, she oversees debt financings for Mubadala Capital platforms and portfolio companies and manages Mubadala Capital’s lender relationships. Kelly is an observer on the Mubadala Capital Investment Committee and is a Board Member of portfolio companies KMAC and Porto Sudeste.
Kelly joined Mubadala in 2008 and was based in Abu Dhabi for 10 years. Before moving to New York, Kelly was based in San Francisco and helped manage Mubadala’s investment in the Softbank Vision Fund. Kelly created and currently leads the Investing In Women initiative for Mubadala Capital and previously conceived the Mubadala Women Retention and Progression (mWRAP) initiative at Mubadala.
Kelly has a broad expertise in corporate and asset financings, refinancings and restructurings across both bank and capital markets. Prior to joining Mubadala, Kelly worked for 10 years at Citi in both London and New York. She has a BA from Drew University and an MBA from the Darden School at University of Virginia and is on the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees.

Head of Human Capital
Gina Velliquette is the Global Head of Human Capital at Mubadala Capital, based out of our New York office. In this capacity, Gina leads the firm’s global people and culture strategy, with a focus on enabling organizational growth, fostering a high-performance culture, and aligning talent initiatives with business priorities.
Gina brings over 20 years of human capital experience across leading financial institutions. Before joining Mubadala Capital, she was Managing Director and Co-Head of Talent at Ares Management, where she oversaw global Talent Acquisition, Campus Recruitment, and the HR Business Partner functions. Her earlier career includes various HR roles at Goldman, Sachs & Co, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Gina graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BA in Psychology. She is also a certified Health and Wellness Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
