BSOF II successfully raised capital from a diverse set of global investors, including a leading public pension fund, family offices, corporates, private equity funds and asset managers across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

BSOF II will continue its strategy of investing primarily in control positions in mature companies that are facing some form of complexity or distress, but where the underlying business fundamentals are compelling. This strategy enables BSOF II to acquire these businesses at attractive entry points, creating a margin of safety at the closing of the transaction that reduces BSOF II’s dependency on Brazil’s economic cycles, including currency depreciation, while retaining upside exposure associated with a growing economy. BSOF II seeks out situations where value can be created immediately upon closing of the transaction as any underlying complexity is typically immediately resolved, creating a pathway to delivering strong risk-adjusted returns to our investors. Mubadala Capital was the first sovereign wealth fund to manage capital on behalf of third-party institutional investors. The organization manages c. $20 billion in aggregate across its own balance sheet investments and third-party capital vehicles across its Private Equity, Solutions, Venture Capital and Brazil businesses. Mubadala Capital closes its second successful Fund in Brazil with over $710 million of Commitments

New York, USA/Abu Dhabi, UAE: Mubadala Capital, the wholly owned asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced the launch of a new business: Mubadala Capital Solutions, including an investment by Apollo (NYSE: APO) in its new evergreen Solutions strategy. The new platform offers bespoke solutions to investors, with a particular focus on institutional investors and family offices, and will invest globally across asset classes, providing access to a range of proprietary private market investment opportunities.

The Mubadala Capital Solutions platform is comprised of three fully integrated strategies to provide investors with access to a range of best-in-class fund managers and direct opportunities, including through tailored investment products.

The first strategy within the Mubadala Capital Solutions platform is a highly diversified evergreen investment product focusing on private market opportunities. The investment strategy has been seeded with a $2.7 billion diversified portfolio from Mubadala Capital’s balance sheet with features that include low volatility, meaningful embedded downside protection, an attractive cash yield on day one and the potential for strong asset appreciation over time. The strategy leverages Mubadala Capital’s access, existing infrastructure and track record to offer investors the opportunity to invest alongside Mubadala, the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The second strategy is focused on Separately Managed Accounts, which provides investors with access to customized and tailored investment portfolios that meet their specific investment criteria, risk-appetite and liquidity requirements.

Finally, Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, a joint venture between Mubadala Capital and Alpha Wave, was recently integrated into Mubadala Capital, forming the third strategy within the new Solutions platform. Established in 2019, Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners invests in top-tier investment firms and industry leading businesses that will benefit from developing a meaningful and sustainable presence in the Abu Dhabi Global Market. Launched with an initial allocation of $1 billion in 2019, Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners now has c. $1.7 billion of assets under management.

Mubadala Capital Launches Capital Solutions Business, Apollo Makes Investment in New Strategy 

4 September 2023, Abu Dhabi, UAE – Mubadala Capital, the $20 billion global asset management firm, and Petrobras, the Brazilian integrated energy company, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see the two parties explore a potential investment by Petrobras into a biofuel project currently being developed by Mubadala Capital in the State of Bahia, Brazil.

The MOU builds on an agreement signed in April 2023 between Acelen and the State of Bahia to develop a biorefinery project to produce renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel derived from Macauba, a native Brazilian crop.

Commenting on the signing of the MOU, Oscar Fahlgren, Chief Investment Officer and Head of Brazil at Mubadala Capital, said: “The production of renewable energy from agricultural crops that are native to Brazil is an innovative and exciting undertaking, with the potential to positively transform Brazil and the global energy landscape for generations to come. This agreement underscores Mubadala Capital and Petrobras’ shared commitment to energy transition, and we are excited to work alongside Petrobras to create a novel, carbon neutral, product that will speed up the transition into a sustainable future.”

Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners (“ADCP”), a joint venture between Mubadala Capital and Alpha Wave Global, has made a strategic investment in MEASA Partners Ltd (“MEASA Partners”), an Abu Dhabi based investment company founded by Al Maskari Holding with the objective of attracting global institutional investors to participate in the Middle East – Africa – Southern Asia (“MEASA”) growth story. 
ADCP’s equity investment is aligned with MEASA Partners’ strategy of supporting the growth of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (“ADGM”) as a major financial centre. Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners makes a strategic investment in MEASA Partners

New York, USA/Abu Dhabi, UAE: Fortress Investment Group (“Fortress”) and Mubadala Investment Company, through its wholly owned asset management subsidiary Mubadala Capital (“Mubadala Capital”), today announced that they have entered into definitive agreements to acquire 90.01% of the equity of Fortress that is currently held by SoftBank Group Corp. (“SoftBank”), who have been the owners of Fortress since 2017. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

After transaction close, Fortress management is expected to own a 30% equity interest in the company and will hold a class of equity entitling Fortress management to appoint a majority of seats on the board. Mubadala Capital (which currently holds a 9.99% stake in Fortress through its Private Equity Funds II and III), will own 70% of Fortress equity.

After the closing, Fortress will continue to operate as an independent investment manager under the Fortress brand, with full autonomy over investment processes and decision making, personnel and operations. Drew McKnight and Joshua Pack will be appointed co-CEOs of Fortress and Pete Briger will be appointed Chairman. Mubadala Capital’s CEO and Managing Director, Hani Barhoush, who has served on Fortress’ board since 2019, will continue to serve on the board.

Dean Dakolias will continue in his role as Managing Partner and Tom Pulley will continue in his role as the CEO of the global Fortress Real Estate business. Jack Neumark has been appointed a Managing Partner and will continue to lead the Legal Assets business and co-head the Specialty Finance business, and Marc Furstein will continue in his role as President. Fortress co-Founders Wes Edens and Randy Nardone will continue to oversee the PCV business and remaining PE investments, including Brightline.

Under the new joint ownership, Fortress is expected to generate significant value for its stakeholders by further establishing itself in the alternative investment space, particularly in credit and real estate across public and private markets, where it currently manages $46 billion of assets on behalf of more than 1,900 institutional investors and private clients. Fortress is expected to benefit from Mubadala Capital’s global network and extensive portfolio of diversified assets, as well as its access to proprietary investment opportunities to support its growth and expansion.

Fortress Management and Mubadala to acquire Fortress Investment Group

PAI Partners (“PAI”), a pre-eminent private equity firm, today announces that it has made a binding offer to acquire The Looping Group (“Looping”), a leading pan-European leisure park operator, from Mubadala Capital’s Private Equity business and Bpifrance, the French national investment bank. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Paris, Looping owns and operates 18 high-quality, local and regional leisure parks, including theme parks, waterparks, wildlife parks and aquariums, attracting over six million visitors a year. The group’s parks span eight European countries, including France, the UK, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Croatia, Germany and Portugal.

Under Mubadala Capital’s ownership, Looping has benefitted from significant growth investments to enhance its existing portfolio of properties and expand through highly accretive M&amp;A, all while building its value proposition to customers by providing high value and affordable experiences to families in a friendly and safe environment across Europe.

PAI would partner with Looping’s existing management team to drive further organic growth and add to the group’s portfolio of leisure parks. Here, PAI would draw on its expertise in the outdoor leisure industry, which includes past investments in B&amp;B Hotels, Roompot and European Camping Group, to further strengthen Looping’s position as the leading operator in its segment in Europe.

Looping would continue to be led by its experienced management team, including co-founders Laurent Bruloy and Stéphane Da Cunha, who would retain a significant shareholding in the business.

PAI Partners in final negotiations to acquire The Looping Group from Mubadala Capital

Mubadala Capital expands its investments into the Brazilian financial infrastructure market, with the aim to further develop regional capital markets 

Rio de Janeiro, Mubadala Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Americas Trading Group (“ATG”), a leading Brazilian electronic trading infrastructure player. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 
The capital injection from Mubadala Capital into ATG will further support the growth of the company’s product base and platform, allowing for new investments in state-of-the-art technologies.  

Oscar Fahlgren, Head of Mubadala Capital in Brazil, said: “Mubadala Capital continuously monitors opportunities to diversify its portfolio, and we have been evaluating the capital markets sector in Brazil for some time. This investment in ATG builds on previous ones we’ve made into this space, which we believe has significant growth potential in the years ahead.

The capital injection into the company occurred through an affiliate fund of Mubadala Capital, MC Brazil TCS Fundo de Investimentos em Participações Estratégias. The company’s previous sole shareholder, ETB fund, hired Angra Partners in December of 2020 to manage the fund and explore value creation alternatives. Angra Partners spearheaded the negotiations which resulted in the conclusion of this transaction.

Mubadala Capital concludes investment into Americas Trading Group 

Transaction builds on a long-standing relationship between the two organizations

Ardian, a world leading private investment house, and Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced a new partnership that will see Ardian invest in a portfolio of high-quality private equity assets managed by Mubadala Capital, and in parallel Ardian will make a primary commitment to Mubadala Capital’s Private Equity funds.

Ardian and Mubadala Capital have built a strong relationship since forming a successful initial partnership in 2017, a milestone transaction that established Mubadala Capital as a third-party asset manager and represented the first time a sovereign wealth fund has managed capital on behalf of institutional investors. 

As part of this latest transaction, Ardian and Mubadala Capital curated a portfolio of ten limited partnership interests with a leading group of General Partners predominantly in North American and Europe, as well as six high-quality direct investments. All of the assets in the new portfolio were previously held on Mubadala Capital’s balance sheet following a successful spin-off from Mubadala Investment Company in 2021. 

Mubadala Capital’s private equity strategy focuses on direct investments in North America and Europe in core sectors where the team has a strong network and track record, including media, sports and entertainment, consumer and food services, financial services and business services.

Ardian and Mubadala Capital announce US$2.1 billion private equity partnership transaction 

Funding will enable CERC to accelerate its investments to become a complete Financial Market Infrastructure provider, including Trade Repository, Central Depository, Clearing, Asset Tokenization Services, and Marketplace, and expanding its database intelligence services

São Paulo, Brazil, and New York, USA CERC, a leading financial market infrastructure provider in Brazil, announced the conclusion of its first tranche USD 67 million funding round led by Mubadala Capital, with follow-on investments from current shareholder Valor Capital. The second tranche may occur within 1 year, should the investors’ expectations be met.

With the funding round, CERC now has strong financial capabilities to accelerate its growth, invest in capital-intensive fields, and acquire strategic assets.

According to Fernando Fontes, CERC’s CEO, this is a strategic partnership, as Mubadala Capital is a reputable investor with a global presence. “A new strategic shareholder such as Mubadala Capital, who is committed to long term investments and has solid financial capabilities, reinforces CERC’s leading market position and strengthens its capital structure to continue investing and developing its infrastructure for a future IPO”, said Fontes.

CERC will use the funds to become a complete financial market infrastructure provider, which includes, in addition to its role as Trade Repository, the roles as Central Depository, Clearing, and Marketplace (under approval by the regulator) for all types of financial assets and fixed income securities, such as card receivables, trade receivables, agribusiness receivables, real estate receivables, asset backed securities, and others.

The funds will also be used to accelerate CERC’s plans to provide asset tokenization services, mainly carbon credit tokenization, ESG assets, and other traditional financial assets, as well as database intelligence services (analytics). Asset tokenization is one of the priorities for the Brazilian Central Bank, along with the digital currency (CBDC), to develop the financial system.

CERC completes round of up to USD 100 million led by Mubadala Capital

Mubadala Capital, the global asset management firm and a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, one of the world's leading sovereign investors with a $284 billion portfolio, today announced that it has acquired AOG, LLC d/b/a TruFood Manufacturing ("TruFood"), in partnership with management. TruFood, a leading snack food contract manufacturer in several categories, is being acquired from funds affiliated with AUA Private Equity Partners, LLC. New York, USA: Mubadala Capital, the wholly owned asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced the entry into a definitive agreement to acquire Canada Cartage (the “Company”), a leading logistics platform that provides dedicated national fleet solutions, general freight services, managed transportation, fulfilment &amp; distribution, and home delivery services to some of Canada’s largest blue-chip companies in the grocery, food, retail, and e-commerce sectors.

Canada Cartage currently operates through a network of 33 facilities across Canada and is comprised of two business segments: Dedicated Transportation and Logistics. Canada Cartage’s Dedicated Transportation business provides its customers with expert management of their transportation needs, allowing them to realize cost efficiencies and reallocate resources towards core operations. Mubadala Capital to acquire Canada Cartage, the leading short-haul trucking and logistics business in Canada

Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced the acquisition of Medicina UniFTC Salvador and Unesulbahia. The two Brazil-based medical universities will form a new educational group that will be controlled by Mubadala Capital with the founding family continuing as minority shareholders of the newly formed company.

The new group does not include other educational programs on the Salvador Campus or the faculties and University Centers of the UniFTC Group in other cities, which will remain under their current ownership.

“With the investment from Mubadala Capital, the new group, comprised of the Unesulbahia campus in Eunápolis and Medicina de Salvador, will be a key education group of nationwide relevance with a successful pedagogical approach that has already been approved with the highest score by the Ministry of Education”, says William Oliveira, member of the Board of Directors and family representative in the new educational group.

The CEO of the new institution is Thiago Sayão, an industry professional with extensive experience in managing educational institutions. Sayão highlights that the academic guidelines and the current pedagogical project remain unchanged and that the entry of Mubadala Capital, an investor with long-term perspective, will be very positive for the students. “In addition to a specific focus on Medicine, we will have a continuous evolution of our academic quality”.

Mubadala Capital Holds a Successful Final Close on its First Investment Fund in Brazil

Chicago, IL, USA/Abu Dhabi, UAE : Entrepreneurial Equity Partners (“e2p”), a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on the food and consumer packaged goods industries, and the Private Equity business of Mubadala Capital, an Abu Dhabi-based asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, today announced that they have completed an investment in Mercer Foods (“Mercer”) and Thrive Foods (“Thrive”). The combination of the two businesses creates a North American market leader in freeze-dried products. The new platform will serve a variety of end markets including fruits and vegetables, proteins, pet treats, probiotics, enzymes, and prepared meals. Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

Rio de Janeiro, November 30, 2021 – This afternoon, an affiliate of Mubadala Capital and Petrobras concluded the transfer of ownership of the Mataripe Refinery (formerly known as RLAM) to Acelen. The parties signed the sales contract in March of this year and sale transaction was completed today.

The Refinery will be controlled by Acelen – a company created by Mubadala Capital to manage the asset – and will be supported by Petrobras via a services agreement during transition period

Acelen, the company created by Mubadala Capital to operate the asset, will take over the management of the Mataripe Refinery and its related logistics assets on December 1. Acelen will continue to supply the regional refined products market and is committed to promoting investment, generating new business opportunities thereby contributing to the development of both Bahia and Brazil.

"We believe that this new phase will offer opportunities for growth and further investments so that the refinery can increase its capacity and diversify the production. Our goal is to create value: to generate healthy competition to serve the local market and benefit society," said Oscar Fahlgren, president of Mubadala Capital in Brazil.

Acelen was created to be a significant player in the energy sector, with the capacity to process more than 300 thousand barrels of oil per day, the equivalent of 14% of Brazil's total refining capacity. Furthermore, Acelen is the largest industrial producer in Bahia and accounts for a material share of taxes collected in the state.

Lead by a team with extensive experience in the oil &amp; gas, fuel distribution, bioenergy, chemical and petrochemical sectors, Acelen's founding principle is respect for people and the refinery’s long standing legacy of more than 70 years.

Petrobras and Transpetro will continue to provide services to Acelen

Acelen has hired with Petrobras and Transpetro to provide transitional services related to the operation of the refinery and its logistics assets, thereby permitting a safe and seamless transition.

"Acelen has been preparing for this transition for months, mapping operational processes and the entire supply chain. The company places great value on the experience of Petrobras employees and hopes to continue counting on the entire frontline operational team once the contract with Petrobras ends," said Luiz de Mendonça.

Located in the Mataripe district of São Francisco do Conde and inaugurated in 1950, RLAM was the first refinery in Brazil and represents an economic and industrial milestone for the country. It is currently the second largest in Brazil, with the highest installed capacity for production of gasoline, diesel and other oil derivatives in the country's North and Northeast.

It has 26 processing units, 4 terminals and 201 storage tanks, in addition to 669 kilometers of pipeline connecting the refinery to port terminals. The complex produces more than 30 products, including diesel, gasoline, aviation kerosene (QAV), asphalt, petrochemical naphtha, petrochemical gases (propane, propane and butane), paraffins, lubricants, LPG and fuel oils (industrial, thermal and bunker).

The refinery was the engine behind the planned development of the first petrochemical complex in Brazil and is located in the largest industrial complex in the Southern Hemisphere, the Camaçari Industrial Hub, composed of more than 90 companies.

Acelen's investments in safety, environmental education and professional capacitation will seek to attract more entrepreneurs to Bahia and create new opportunities for work and income generation in the region.

Mubadala Capital Hires Lee Wanie as New Head of Sales and Distribution

Mubadala Capital, the Abu Dhabi-based asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, one of the world’s leading sovereign investors with US $243 billion of assets under management, today announced the acquisition of K-MAC Enterprises (“K-MAC”) from Lee Equity Partners Opportunities Fund in partnership with the existing management team.

Founded in 1964, K-MAC has established a strong track record of growth through a combination of new store openings and strategic acquisitions. Today, K-MAC operates over 300 Taco Bell restaurants, primarily located in the Midwestern and Southern United States and represents approximately 4% of the entire Taco Bell system, the industry leader in the Mexican quick service restaurant (“QSR”) space.

Mubadala Capital acquires K-MAC Enterprises, the second largest Taco Bell franchisee in the United States

Mubadala Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, has closed its third Private Equity fund, MIC Capital Partners III (“Fund III”), with total commitments of $1.6 billion. Fund III surpassed its initial target and raised capital commitments from a diverse set of new and existing investors including leading pension plans, endowments, insurance plans, government institutions, family offices and private equity firms across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Mubadala Capital Closes Private Equity Fund III with Total Commitments of $1.6 billion

Mubadala Capital, the asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company (“Mubadala”), the global sovereign investor managing a $243 billion portfolio, today announced a significant investment into its Private Equity business led by BlackRock’s Secondaries and Liquidity Solutions group (“BlackRock”) and a consortium of global institutional investors.

The BlackRock-led consortium’s investment was made into a portfolio of assets currently managed by Mubadala Capital, in addition to a $400 million commitment into Mubadala Capital’s third private equity fund (“Fund III”). Fund III recently exceeded its fundraising target and held its final close at $1.6 billion.

The partnership between Mubadala Capital and BlackRock was formed in parallel with the successful final close of BlackRock’s $3 billion Secondaries &amp; Liquidity Solutions (“SLS”) strategy, which is among the largest fundraises for an inaugural private equity secondaries strategy globally to date. BlackRock’s SLS strategy aims to lead and invest opportunistically in mid-sized secondary transactions, and SLS led this transaction with significant interest and involvement from various strategic partners and co-investors. BlackRock’s team developed conviction around Mubadala Capital and the underlying portfolio, which BlackRock believes will be a key and core investment in its SLS strategy.

Mubadala Capital and BlackRock Form Partnership Across Private Equity Funds

BDT Capital Partners (“BDT”), Mubadala Investment Company and its asset management subsidiary, Mubadala Capital (together “Mubadala”), today announced the transaction close of the acquisition of Culligan International (“Culligan”), the global leader in sustainable water solutions and services.

BDT Capital Partners, LLC (“BDT”), affiliated with BDT &amp; Co., LLC, a merchant bank that provides closely held businesses with long-term, differentiated capital, along with strategic co-investing families and institutions, acquired a majority interest in Culligan from Advent International and Centerbridge Partners in a transaction that was first announced in May 2021. Mubadala provided a significant capital commitment as an anchor partner in the transaction. Advent will also retain a minority stake in Culligan going forward. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Culligan was founded by Emmett Culligan in Illinois, USA in 1936 and sells products and services for water filtration and treatment around the globe. Today, Culligan is the largest player in the sector with over 35 brands in 90 countries. Culligan Middle East established a presence in Dubai over 20 years ago and has since grown to be one of the largest and most diverse water treatment companies in the Gulf region.

Today, Culligan Middle East operates through facilities in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Qatar. In 2014, Culligan Middle East opened a new Manufacturing facility in Dubai Techno Park. This 10,000m2 site is a purpose-built, integrated manufacturing, sales and service center, including facilities for equipment fabrication, chemical blending and water bottling.

BDT Capital Partners and Mubadala Strengthen Partnership with Acquisition of Culligan International

Mubadala Investment Company (“Mubadala”), today announced that it has joined Silver Lake and other investors including the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Magna International, and Andreessen Horowitz as part of a consortium to invest a total of $2.25bn in Waymo, the self-driving technology company owned by Alphabet, the parent company of Google.

The latest investment round follows a recent series of major operational and technical milestones achieved by Waymo. Its vehicles have now self-driven more than 20 million miles on public roads across over 25 cities, and over 10 billion miles in simulation. Engineers and technicians at Waymo’s Detroit factory, the world’s first factory dedicated to the mass production of L4 autonomous vehicles, have shipped the first vehicles (electric cars and Class 8 trucks) integrated with the fifth generation of hardware, providing all-new, more powerful computing and more capable sensing.

Waymo One, the world’s first public self-driving ride-hailing service, serves thousands of customers in Arizona, and has already provided thousands of fully driverless rides in a high-speed mixed usage market area larger than San Francisco. Mubadala invests in autonomous, self-driving technology company Waymo

Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) of Abu Dhabi, today announced its intent to create a $400 million fund to invest in leading European technology companies. The fund will be managed by Mubadala Ventures, the venture capital arm of Mubadala. SoftBank Group will participate as a strategic investor via its SIMI US Holdings I, Inc. investment subsidiary. The fund will target founder-led, high growth technology companies with global scale and impact.

The announcement was made during London Tech Week, a week-long festival of technology and innovation focused on creating new innovative investment opportunities in the UK.  The fund will work closely with early-stage UK and other European funds. As part of its European strategy, Mubadala Ventures will expand its fund of funds program and invest in both established and emerging fund managers across the continent.

Through the European fund of funds and direct fund strategy, Mubadala Ventures will also facilitate the process for European tech companies to establish operations in Abu Dhabi to target the Gulf and Middle East markets.

Mubadala to launch $400 million European tech fund

Mubadala Investment Company (“Mubadala”) of Abu Dhabi today announced the sale of its consortium’s majority interest in EMI Music Publishing to Sony Corporation (“Sony”) at an enterprise value of $4.75 billion. This acquisition represents Sony’s commitment to its writers and artists as well as its commitment to the music business more broadly. The closing of the transaction is subject to certain closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Over the past six years, Mubadala Capital – the financial investment arm of Mubadala – and Sony have worked together as partners to create value alongside Sony/ATV, Sony’s music publishing arm.  Sony/ATV has been administering the EMI Music Publishing catalog’s legacy of iconic writers and artists, and along with the consortium re-investing in existing writer relationships and growing the catalog by signing new writers on a 50/50 basis. These actions, coupled with the global rise of streaming and paid streaming services, have led to an appreciation in value of the EMI Music Publishing catalog as millions of new consumers have been provided access to innovative distribution channels.

EMI Music Publishing owns or administers over two million songs that include classics by Queen, Carole King and the Motown catalog along with contemporary songs from Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Drake, Sam Smith, Pink, Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris, Fetty Wap, Hozier and Sia.

The original transaction and investor consortium that partnered with Sony and the Michael Jackson Estate to acquire EMI Music Publishing from a wholly-owned subsidiary of Citigroup Inc. was sourced and assembled by Mubadala Capital’s private equity business, which has controlled and managed EMI Music Publishing on behalf of Mubadala and other third party investors since 2012.

Sony Corporation to acquire EMI Music Publishing from Mubadala

SAN FRANCISCO and ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates /PRNewswire/ -- Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi-based investment company (Mubadala), today announced it is launching a venture capital arm of its business. A dedicated ventures investment team will be based in San Francisco, the first Mubadala office in the United States.

The team will initially oversee three main business areas:

<ul type="disc"><li>Mubadala Ventures Fund I, a $400 million early growth venture capital fund with two main investors, Mubadala and SoftBank. The fund plans to invest in exceptional founder-led companies creating scalable technologies and businesses. Investments will focus on Series A and beyond, with the goal of building a portfolio of 25 companies in North America and Europe. The fund will have a broad enterprise technology focus.</li>
	<li>A $200 million ventures Fund of Funds that will invest in both established and emerging fund managers. Under this program, Mubadala intends to invest $50 million to $70 million per year in U.S and European-based venture capital funds.</li>
	<li>Overseeing and managing Mubadala's $15 billion commitment to the SoftBank Vision Fund, working in close partnership with SoftBank executives in California.</li>
